Leaders in Washington state announced a new partnership to accelerate development of sustainable aviation fuel production. The state announced $20 million in funding at Boeing’s Future of Flight museum to make SAF a viable and plentiful energy alternative for aviation.
Washington currently has policies that speed up permitting and environmental review for new SAF plants, including a tax credit. This, along with the new state funding for the accelerator should help make SAF production a reality in Washington. The next-generation fuel holds the promise of dramatically reducing lifetime greenhouse gas emissions from aviation, as well as U.S. job creation and energy independence.
