CLIMBING.FAST. is a business aviation initiative to showcase the industry’s many societal benefits, from creating opportunities for today’s workforce to leading sustainability innovations to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

  • Business aviation has enhanced fuel efficiency by 40% over the past 40 years. An incubator for sustainability solutions, business aviation manufacturers are at the forefront of advancing technological innovations that significantly reduce life-cycle carbon emissions, including developing and certifying electric, hybrid and hydrogen propulsion systems.

  • The business aviation industry supports 1.2 million American jobs and $246 billion in economic output and investments in sustainability and other new technologies and is helping create new markets and job opportunities for a next-generation workforce.

  • Today, the industry is championing the development and broader adoption of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), which is derived from sustainable feedstocks and can reduce life-cycle carbon emissions by 80% compared to conventional fossil fuel. This initiative will also make our energy supply chain more resilient, enhancing our national security.

What Congress Can Do

1.

Pass a long-term Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization bill to ensure a viable industry that remains a global aviation leader in safety and sustainability.

2.

Support the extension of the SAF Blender’s Tax Credit and enhance the Department of Transportation’s Fueling Aviation’s Sustainable Transition (FAST) Grant programs to increase SAF availability and further technology development.

3.

Ensure the Department of Energy is resourcing and focusing its programs to support aviation technology and fuel programs and support the Federal Aviation Administration’s research and development programs to scale and deploy SAF and other aviation technologies to reduce aviation emissions.
