Business aviation OEM Gulfstream Aerospace recently welcomed more than 60 high school graduates into its specialized training program at the Savannah Technical Training Center. The incoming cohort comprises young adults representing 20 distinct educational institutions across eight counties in Georgia and South Carolina.
This educational outreach initiative is strategically designed to address the industry’s pressing talent shortages by transforming recent graduates into a steady stream of highly capable technical professionals.
The program participants begin their professional development with structured classroom education and interactive laboratory exercises before transferring into specialized operational divisions, such as aircraft manufacturing and technical assembly.
To enhance the pipeline, the enterprise has introduced newly developed training tracks focused on aircraft maintenance and nondestructive testing. Business leaders highlighted that the initiative serves as an exceptional retention tool, with approximately 90% of individuals who progress through the coursework choosing to stay with the organization long-term.
Independent studies show that business aviation helps support 1.3 million American jobs and contributes $340 billion to the U.S. economy.
