
Massachusetts is actively working to position itself as a leader in the development and adoption of cleaner, greener jet fuels, known as sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). Rich Davey, chief executive of the Massachusetts Port Authority, has assembled a SAF Working Group with other state officials to achieve this goal.
The group recently submitted recommendations to Governor Maura Healey, including proposals for tax credits to incentivize SAF blends, storage, and production infrastructure, as well as the development of new fuel technologies. They also aim to identify existing state programs that could support the industry and have requested a study from the U.S. Department of Energy on the region’s current SAF assets.
