Archer Aviation has partnered with AEG to establish downtown Los Angeles’s inaugural vertiport at the L.A. Live sports and entertainment complex. The downtown location is designated as a main destination hub for the company’s Midnight aircraft, a piloted, four-passenger electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicle engineered to travel at speeds reaching 150 miles per hour.
By bypassing gridlocked ground infrastructure, the aerial service aims to compress traditional highway drives requiring up to two hours into brief flights lasting between 10 and 20 minutes. Initial preliminary feasibility evaluations for the complex have already reviewed flight corridor access, energy infrastructure requirements, and neighborhood considerations.
This downtown terminal forms part of a broader regional urban air mobility network designed to connect key locations, including Los Angeles International Airport, Hollywood Burbank Airport, Hawthorne Municipal Airport, SoFi Stadium, and the USC campus. Archer Aviation plans to have its flight network fully operational in time for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, utilizing aircraft manufactured at its production site in Georgia. Instead of adopting high charter fees common to traditional helicopters, the enterprise intends to align passenger pricing with high-end ground transport options such as Uber Black to increase accessibility.
