Industrial artificial intelligence and infrastructure firm Atoms has formed a strategic alliance with Joby Aviation to identify, purchase, and establish vertiport locations throughout the United States. The initial rollout will prioritize site acquisition in Florida, New York, Texas and California.

This development aligns with Joby Aviation’s plans to introduce early commercial services through the federally sponsored eVTOL Integration Pilot Program, ensuring essential landing and charging nodes are established in key metropolitan markets.

The infrastructure initiative addresses a pivotal shift in advanced air mobility as Joby Aviation completes the concluding phases of FAA type certification. Having already conducted piloted demonstration flights across major urban centers, including New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area, the company is turning its focus toward ground-level operational requirements. By scaling physical sites for passenger boarding, vehicle recharging, and multi-modal transit connections, the joint venture aims to resolve ground-based bottlenecks that could otherwise impede daily urban air taxi adoption.
