Synthetic aviation fuel developer Lydian secured $43 million in Series A financing to support the commercialization of its modular production technology. The funding round was led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, founded by Bill Gates, deploying capital through its specialized aviation vehicle created in partnership with oneworld alliance airlines. Additional support came from prominent venture capital firms including AP Ventures, Builders Vision, Congruent Ventures, and Galvanize, among others.

The capital injection will accelerate the scaling and deployment of the company’s proprietary PIVOT platform, which transforms hydrogen and captured carbon dioxide into drop-in jet fuel. By utilizing standardized, factory-built modules instead of custom-built facilities, the technology aims to lower plant construction costs by over 50% while operating flexibly around variable renewable power supplies. The firm currently runs a pilot facility in Boston and plans to launch a commercial demonstration plant by 2028 ahead of full-scale deployment in 2030.
