The Federal Aviation Administration has granted a Special Airworthiness Certificate in the Experimental Category to Heart Aerospace, giving official permission to initiate flight testing for its full-scale X1 prototype. 

Flying out of Plattsburgh International Airport in New York, the massive testbed features a 106-foot wingspan, a length of 76 feet, and a maximum takeoff weight exceeding 25,000 pounds. This milestone comes after more than a year of comprehensive regulatory collaboration and extensive ground evaluations to ensure operational readiness.

The experimental aircraft serves as a research platform for the manufacturer’s prospective ES-30 model, a regional aircraft designed for 30 passengers. Utilizing a dual-source propulsion system that combines electric motors with turboprop engines, the design supports zero-emission flight on short regional trips while leveraging sustainable aviation fuel to extend its total range. Company leadership views this regulatory authorization as a crucial advancement toward validating lower operational costs and reduced carbon emissions in aviation.
