The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) has released a digital report detailing the extensive national and state-level contributions of general aviation.

Produced in collaboration with the Alliance for Aviation Across America and the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO), the document compiles comprehensive statistical data along with targeted profiles of state-specific programs. Industry findings indicate that general aviation supports over 1.3 million domestic jobs, generates more than $100 billion in labor earnings and contributes nearly $178 billion to the national gross domestic product.

Designed as an informational resource for public decision-makers, the publication provides standardized state-by-state data to assist leadership during legislative testimony, budgetary planning and local briefings. The research underscores that general aviation grants access to more than 4,400 public-use landing facilities nationwide, far exceeding the coverage provided by commercial air carriers. Beyond driving business activity, these regional airfields deliver vital transportation links for non-urban communities, facilitating emergency medical transfers, agricultural support, law enforcement operations, disaster relief efforts and flight instruction.

Independent studies show that business aviation helps support 1.3 million American jobs and contributes $340 billion to the U.S. economy.
