High Flying Hangars has officially commenced a new development project spanning more than eleven acres at Frederick Municipal Airport in Maryland, marking the first time in over 20 years that new hangars are being built at the important business aviation airport serving the greater Washington, D.C. region.

The development is planned in two distinct stages, which will ultimately deliver dozens of individual units varying in size to accommodate various aircraft. These modern steel structures will feature advanced amenities, such as climate control, high-speed internet access, and energy-efficient LED lighting, while the larger spaces will also include restrooms and specialized in-floor drainage systems. The initial phase will introduce a dedicated communal clubhouse, known as the Hangar Club, equipped with a commercial kitchen, meeting spaces, and an outdoor viewing deck for visitors.

Local leaders and aviation officials emphasize the project’s importance to the regional economy. Because Frederick is experiencing rapid population and commercial growth, the airport serves as a vital transit hub for general aviation across Maryland and the northern Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Representatives from High Flying Hangars and the airport management noted that this major investment aligns with the city’s ongoing expansion, significantly enhancing infrastructure for incoming residents and businesses. The groundbreaking ceremony drew several prominent local figures, including the city’s mayor.

Business aviation in the U.S. and globally plays a key role in creating jobs, connecting communities and helping companies succeed.
